AGENT SPOTLIGHT: Gene Hamilton

How did you start in the commercial real estate business?

With my approaching retirement from a teaching career, I was looking for an alternate career.  After passing the real estate exam, Lee Barran gave me the opportunity to sell for Gateway.

What do you like most about your job in commercial real estate?

Selling commercial real estate is challenging, but offers the flexibiity that I will enjoy during my "retirement" years.  Being able to provide assistance to both large and small companies is rewarding.  Helping each client, whether their needs are large or small, will be my objective.

Would you say you have a niche market you work within?

Since I have just started in commercial real estate, I have not developed a specialty, per se.  However, having been in the retail business for thirty-two years at The Book Shoppe, I am interested in using my experience in placing retail businesses in their perfect location.

What's the best advice you can give someone considering a career in commercial real estate?

Success in commercial real estate depends on knowing your market, and being keenly aware of the properties that are available in your area.
